From Curiosity to Clarity: My Virtual Dive into Entrepreneurship

I was always curious about how ideas turn into real-world impact — especially in the startup space.

But recently, I took that curiosity a step further by completing the City of Moreton Bay's Entrepreneurship and Innovation virtual experience program on Forage. This wasn’t just another online course. It felt like a sneak peek into the actual working world — where innovation meets execution.

What Actually is Job Simulation?

A job simulation is a virtual or real-world exercise designed to mimic the kind of work you’d do in a specific role or industry. Instead of just reading about what a job involves, you actually do some of the tasks — like solving a business problem, creating a presentation, or analyzing data.

In platforms like Forage, job simulations are structured to give students and early professionals hands-on experience with real-world tasks from top companies or government organizations — but in a risk-free, learning-focused environment.

Think of it as a "test drive" for your career — you get to explore the role, see if you enjoy the kind of work involved, and build confidence (plus a great resume line too).

My Experience with Job Simulation

I completed a job simulation that gave insight into the tasks and challenges that entrepreneurs face. I also created a pitch deck for my startup (Unifesto) to send to venture capital firms for pre-seed investment. They gave a task to build a website with WordPress, but I already had a website, so I submitted it.

Through this program I realized that I really enjoy working on these types of tasks and would love to apply what I've learned in this type of role in the future.

What Skills I Gain

CONVEYING PRODUCT    VALUE    DESIGN    DRIVE AND RESILIENCE    PITCH DECKS

If you're someone curious about startups, innovation, or just looking for direction, I’d genuinely recommend exploring virtual experiences like this on Forage. You might be surprised by how much you learn — not just about the industry, but about yourself too.

Thanks to DevaHarshini, a junior of mine, for inspiring me to write this blog. Your message — “It would be amazing if you could share your journey…” — really motivated me to take the leap. Thanks for the encouragement! 🙌
